What is Ostarine (MK-2866)?
Ostarin(e) is also known as MK-2866, S-22, GTx-024, or Enobosarm. It is an orally available, nonsteroidal selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM).
Originally, MK-2866 was developed in medicine for amyotrophy (nerve disease) and muscle atrophy (= muscle wasting), osteoporosis, and as a testosterone replacement. Ostarin is already in several Phase II clinical trials, making it one of the most advanced SARMs. It should not be confused with S-4 (andarine) or even S-1.
Since Enobosarm can protect existing muscle mass and help build new muscle, it also found its way very quickly into the hardcore sports scene as a supplement. Here, the anabolic SARM is mainly appreciated for the fact that it selectively binds to the androgen receptor (AR) and thus has significantly fewer or no side effects – especially compared to steroids, prohormones, etc.. However, the results are impressive!
Ostarine (MK-2866) Effect
As already mentioned, Ostarin is supposed to help protect muscles and bones and build up lean body mass. SARM selectively binds to the AR (androgen receptor), which intensifies protein synthesis and has a positive effect on muscles and their growth. MK-2866 in Germany: Is Ostarine legal?
Caution: We may and can not make any legally binding statements, but want to show you the legal situation known to us (as of April 2021) in the following. Please always inform yourself about the respective legal situation in your country before buying and consuming Enobosarm (Ostarine, MK-2866).
Since Enobosarm / Ostarine / MK-2866 is a SARM, its possession and use in Germany is subject to certain regulations. According to the Anti-Doping Act (AntiDopG) and Doping Substances Quantity Ordinance (DmMV), the following is allowed in this country:
MK-2866 (Ostarin) you may possess and consume in Germany as an amateur athlete who does not want to gain any competitive advantage with it, in small amounts – for SARMs this is a maximum of 90 mg – from a legal source.
Most supplements have a dosage between 10 and 20 mg. So, depending on the supplement, you can legally own between 4.5 and 9 daily servings.
Ostarine in competitions
MK-2866 was classified as doping-relevant some time ago. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has listed SARMs as “other anabolic substances” on its banned list since 1998. Ostarin is therefore banned in athletically organized competitions. Although there are always athletes who use it, they are almost always caught.
So the following applies: If you participate or want to participate in competitions, then it is neither allowed to possess MK-2866 nor to use it.
MK-2866 Intake and Dosage
As with any supplement, you should first and foremost pay attention to the instructions of the respective manufacturer and follow them exactly. For better absorption, many recommend taking on an empty stomach or at least before meals.
Since Ostarine has a half-life of about 24 hours, a single intake per day is sufficient. However, some manufacturers also advise to divide the dose – especially with higher dosages – so that the body is constantly well supplied throughout the day and can process everything well.
Basically, in terms of Dosage Ostarine:
- for muscle building: 30 to 50 milligrams daily for six to ten weeks
- for fat burning or muscle maintenance during dieting: 15 to 30 milligrams daily for four to six weeks
- after a steroid regimen: 15 to 30 milligrams daily for six to eight weeks
Enobosarm is often used for cutting, the definition phase and during the diet.
Ostarine for women?
More and more women also want to benefit from the positive effect of SARMs and try different preparations like Ostarin here. We are not aware of any side effects so far. However, a reduction in the dose of MK-2866 in female athletes is advisable so that the risk of virilization symptoms (masculinization) remains low. In addition, women should take good care of their bodies during the course of treatment and any side effects that may occur. In case of undesirable effects, you should refrain from taking it.
Women take about 10 to 20 milligrams daily for four to eight weeks.
